Salt Weathering on Buildings and Stone Sculptures

Welcome to SWBSS 2011

Soluble salts are a principal agent of decay in porous building and decorative materials. Salt-decay can be identified either as efflorescence (salt growth on the surface of materials) or cryptoflorescence (salt crystallization within the pores). This conference addresses salt-related problems focusing on the study of the decay mechanisms, the key parameters controlling the crystallization of salts and the development of new conservation methods and materials. The conference is open to both researchers and practitioners and it aims to provide a forum to present and discuss recent findings.
